"...On 18 September 1945 he, along with 28 others, was among the crew and patients on RAAF Dakota A65-61, which crashed in Papua New Guinea. The RAAF was transferring wounded servicemen from Indonesia to Townsville when the plane crashed. In June 2005 the wreckage and remains were recovered and a military funeral held later that year..." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
