A wave of sorrow vassed over Leeton and the surrounding district when it became known that LAC Kevin George Williams, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. S 'Williams, of Bolianco '  Garage, Leeton, had been killed in an air accident at Deniliquin on June 22. Kevin, who would have been 21 years of age in August, was born in Sydney, and went to Leeton as a baby in 1924. He received his early education at St. Joseph 's Convent, Leeton, and later at St. Joseph's College, Hunter's Hill. An excellent Catholic, he was a keen supporter of all the Church 's activities, and was of a most charitable disposition.
At the time of his enlistment he was secretary to the Holy Name Society and also assistant secretary of the Hibernians. At the last meeting of the Holy Name executive special  prayers were offered for the repose of his soul. The body was taken to St. 'Michael's Church, Deniliquin, whence the funeral cortage left. Over 150 airmen marched behind the waggon carrying the casket, covered with the Union Jack. The obsequies were carried out by the Air Force'' Chaplain and the 'Last Post' sounded by the bugler. Besides his parents,  Kevin is survived by his only sistor, Joan.
