Flying Officer Delwyn Crossley Wilmot 401342 of Number 12 Squadron was killed when Vultee Vengeance aircraft A27-5 caught alight on take-off from Batchelor airstrip, Adelaide River, NT

The other crewman was Sergeant Norman William Cotter 43065 who was seriously injured in the incident, he was discharged 4 Jul 1944
