42564 Sgt John Raymond Cock was born in Adelaide, SA. Aged 29 years, Sergeant John Cock of 2 Platoon, A Company, 9 RAR was killed by an enemy Anti-Tank Weapon (RPG) penetrating A Company’s perimeter while on Operation Goodwood.

9 RAR, with other Australian Battalions, was heavily engaged with the enemy in the area known as Hat Dich, 30 km n.w. of Nuit Dat.
