Biography

"Australian killed in Vietnam

An Australian soldier was killed in action and two others were wounded in two contacts with the enemy in South Vietnam on Tuesday. They were all from 5th Battalion, RAR, an army spokesman said in Canberra yesterday. In Bien Hoa province, Private M. P. Linton, a national serviceman of Upper Mount Gravatt, Queensland, died of fragment wounds. Corporal D. A. Campbell of Singleton, NSW, suffered fragment wounds in the same contact. His condition is satisfactory. In Phuoc Tuy province, Private B. I. Pye, a national serviceman of Dalton, NSW, suffered fragment wounds in another contact. His condition is very satisfactory." - from the Canberra Times 06 Nov 1969 (nla.gov.au)
