Biography

Dennis served with 1st Australian Reinforcement Unit, 6th Battalion The Royal Regiment and 2th Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment in South Vietnam. He had been in country 190 days at the time of his death. 

"...(During an) exercise demonstrating Light Fire Team (LFT) support between D Company 2RAR and helicopters of the US Army 118th Assault Helicopter Company... to train the officers and NCOs of 2RAR in the control and direction of the LFT helicopters, marking targets and experiencing close rocket support... one rocket veered to the left and struck a group of soldiers from 11 and 12 Platoons, 2RAR. Pte Radomi, 2782440 Lance Corporal McDuff and 4718427 Pte Dennis Edwin Nelson were killed..."SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
