Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Joe Trezise left Australia during April 1916, and was reported missing at Mouquet Farm a bit over four months later. Joseph asked for his allotment pay, four shillings a day, not to go to his family, but to his “friend” Gladys Lockwood, perhaps his girlfriend. Gladys Lockwood died of consumption in 1923, aged 27.

Joseph Trezise’s remains were discovered in 1919 and he was reinterred in the Pozieres British Cemetery.
