Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Sergeant Robinson was a well-known and esteemed member of the Footscray Rowing Club, and was a wood turner before enlistment. Only 24 years old, Sergeant Robinson joined the C Coy. 21st battalion, and was aboard the Southland when it was sunk on his way to Gallipoli.
His remains were found in one grave during 1919, near Pozieres, along with 6 men of the 21st Battalion, all were killed by the one shell when carrying rations up the Pozieres front line on the 29 July 1916. The grave was marked by one cross, bearing the seven names.
His brother, 3127 Sergeant Robert Golding Robinson 6th Battalion AIF, suffered a severe gunshot wound to his right arm, resulting in a compound fracture humerus on the 20 September 1917, in Belgium, and was returned to Australia 30 January 1918.
