West Adelaide Football Club involvement:
Harold made his debut on 7 June 1909. Harold played 81 games and kicked 20 goals for WAFC from 1909 to 1921 and was a member of the 1912 premiership team. He played 3 State games between 1909 and 1913. The WAFC Annual reports of 1909 and 1911 spoke highly of Harold’s backline play and the 1914 Report praised his valuable service to the club. In 1913 Harold won the Most Improved Player trophy. (W.T. Kelly History of West Adelaide Football Club page 44.)
Biographical details:
Harold left Australia on board HMAT A60 Aeneas on 11 April 1916. He was stationed at Larkhill Camp, England from 16 July to 11 January 1917. His unit was sent to France on 20 March. They fought at Fricourt, Reincourt and Corbie in France in 1917 and at Zonnebeke and Lindenhoek in Belgium during 1918. Harold was appointed Lance Corporal on 2 February 1918, returned to Australia on the Beltana on 2 June 1919 and was discharged on 29 August. Harold died on 7 April 1963.
