Joseph Harvey (aka David) was the ninth of thirteen children of William Charles Buckby (born 1856 in Brisbane, QLD) and Charlotte Mary O'Sullivan (born 1862 in Tipperary, Ireland). Charlotte arrived in Brisbane, QLD in April 1869 on the board the Young Australia. William - a Labourer and Wood Cutter - and Charlotte married in 1880 in Charters Towers, QLD where they settled and raised their family.
David was a Miner when he enlisted in the AIF in August 1914. He was a Private (Service No:903) with 9th Infantry Battalion and served in Gallipoli (25 April 1915 - December 1915), France and Italy. David was promoted to Lance Corporal in May 1915 but reverted to Private at his own request. His twin, Harvey James (Private; Service No:2345) and brothers Patrick Dennis (Private; Service No:5336), James Alfred (Private/Shoeing Smith; Service No:250), and Edward (Ned) Arthur (Private; Service No:52976) also served in WWI.
David settled in Ayr, QLD where he was working as a Labourer in 1924 when he married Lizzie Olive Payne (born 1892 in Bendigo, Victoria). David and Lizzie settled in Ayr, QLD where David was a Labourer. In December 1941 he enlisted with the ACMF and served as a Private (Service No:Q55116) with 15th Garrison Battalion. He was Discharged in September 1944.
David and Lizzie moved to Bowen, QLD where Lizzie died in 1970. David died in Caboolture, QLD in 1972.

David is my Grandad. I am so proud of him and his 4 brothers who served in ww1, Harvey James his twin brother kia Pozieres...
His Son, my Father Vic, also served in the RAAF in Malaya and Vietnam.
David insisted my Dad could not join the Army after his experience...so my Dad joined the RAAF instead.
May they all Rest in Peace unto God...I am so proud of them all...
