Rowan, Joseph (Camperdown) Born at Warrnambool in 1892, the son of James and WInifred (Murnane) Rowan, he was a farmer at Camperdown when he enlisted in August 1915, serving as 4601 Pte J Rowan, embarking with 14th Battalion (14th Reinforcements), from Melbourne on HMAT A70 Ballarat on 18 February 1916, transferred to th Australian Provost Corps prior to return to Australia, embarking on 26 July 1919. He served alongside his brother in both 14th Battalion and the Provost Corps, with consecutive numbers, and their return to Australia.
At some point this family was living at Timboon as a couple of sisters are born there.
