Mick was the youngest of ten children of Patrick Joseph Frawley (born 1866 in County Clare, Ireland) and Catherine (Kate) Angela O'Connell (born 1872 in Toowoomba, QLD). Patrick arrived in Brisbane, QLD in 1882 and married Kate in Drayton, QLD in 1895. The family settled in Drayton where Patrick was a Labourer.

Mick was a Teacher in Cairns, QLD when he married Sarah (Betty) Elizabeth Lillian Coles (born 1918 in Toowoomba, QLD) in 1941. Mick enlisted in the ACMF in 1941, serving as a Private (Service No: Q104978) with 117 AGH until 1942 when he enlisted in the Australian Army. Mick served as a Corporal (Service Nos: Q146699/QX37306) with 'M' Australian Special Unit AIF, 4th Australian Divisional Reception Camp, and 11 Australian Small Ships Coy. ('M' Unit was a joint Australian, New Zealand, Dutch and British military intelligence unit formed to gather intelligence on Japanese troop and shipping movements. The unit was well known for commando style raids). Mick also served with 11 and 14 Australian Small Ships Coy.

Brothers in law - David William Nethercote (Service No: 7900), John Lewis Coles (Service No: Q45922) and Willie Coles (Service No: B3255) - and sister in law Ellen Coles (nee Davies, Service No: 100678) also served in WWII.

Following his Discharge, Mick and Betty lived in Manly, QLD and Mick resumed Teaching. They transferred to Yungaburra in Atherton, QLD in 1950, and trnasferred back to the Darling Downs where Mick taught at Rosevale School in Rosewood. The family moved to Toowoomba in the 1970s, and returned to Rosewood on the Darling Downs by 1980. Mick died in 2006 and Betty in 2008
