Son of William Undy and Mary Virginia Undy nee Delacour of St. Arnaud, Victoria. Brother of Arthur George Minton Undy (served as Arthur George Undy) who returned to Australia on 10 March 19 having served with the 2nd Tunnelling Company.

20 July 1915 - enlisted at Melbourne with the 14th Battalion and with the rank of Private.

3 March 1916 - transferred to the 46th Battalion at Tel-el-Kebir

8 August 1916 - wounded. Gunshot wound to the left hand
