Son of George Edward Ogden and Emma Matilda Ogden nee Taylor of Belmore Road, Lorn, West Maitland, NSW.

On 9 October 1907 Harold married Blanche Lillias Hussey in Murrurindi, NSW. Blanche died on 30 May the following year in Sydney, NSW.

Commenced return to Australia on 9 December 1918 aboard HT Leicestshire disembarking on 21 January  1919
