Staff Sergeant Wilfred William Jackson (Service No:Q37003) enlisted in the ACMF on 9 May 1941 as a Private attached to 1st Labour Coy before transferring to Australian Army Pay Corps (AAPC) on 7 September 1942. He was promoted to Corporal on 13 April 1943, attached to 6 Australian Depot Cash Office and embarked from Townsville to Port Moresby on 12 July 1943 on board the Canberra. Corporal Jacksom was attached to District Accounts Office when he emplaned from Nadzab - in the Markham Valley in New Guinea - for Townsville. Promoted to Staff Sergeant on 13 February 1946, he was attached to MD Accounts Office at Discharge on 11 December 1946.

Born in 1909 in Rockhampton QLD, Bill was the youngest of three children of John Jackson (b1880 in Gympie, QLD) and Rose Amy Louisa Webb (b1885 in Rockhampton, QLD). John (a Carrier in Mt Morgan, QLD) and Rose married in Rockhampton in 1903 and lived at Mt Morgan before they separated and Rose lived in Rockhampton, remarrying in 1917. John lived in Mt Morgan where he worked as a Carrier, Teamster and Labourer.

Bill was working as a Postal Clerk in Yepoon, QLD in 1941 when he enlisted in the ACMF. He was in Brisbane, QLD in 1942 when he married Mabel Jean Brock (b1902 in QLD). Following his Discharge, Bill and Mabel settled in Brisbane, QLD where Bill worked as a Commonwealth Public Servant - as a Postal Clerk with the Postmaster General's Department in 1949 and by 1970 as a Clerical Assistant with the Department of Treasury. Following Mabel's death in 1973, Bill moved to Rockhampton where he died in 1993.
