Son of William Quinert and Alice Maud Quinert nee Manton of Armstrong Street, Ballarat, Victoria.

Brother of Phillip Quinert who returned to Australia on 22 April 1916 having served with the 2nd Australian General Hospital and Gilbert Hope Quinert who returned to Australia on 18 August 1919 having served with the 2nd Australian General Hospital

Commenced return to Australia on 8 May 1919 aboard HS Irishman as nursing staff disembarking on 7 July 1919
