27 Jul 1919: Honoured Military Medal, Citation reads:- During the attack north east of Villers-Bretonneux, on the morning of 4 July 1918, though wounded three times before Zoro, he carried his Lewis Gun and led his section into the assault. During the consolidation he used his gun with great discretion and initiative. It was only when the position was secure did he evacuate commander. He displayed and excellent example of steadfastness to the men of his section. London Gazette on 21 October 1918, page 12423, position 11.
