Husband of Annie Hayes formerly Gray nee Fisher of Glasgow, Scotland. William and Annie married on 2 February 1918 in the United Free Church of Scotland, Maryhill, Scotland. J.G. Taylor officiated

Commenced return to Australia on 8 October 1918 aboard HT Port Sydney diisembarking on 2 December 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
