Robert Charles William Kennedy was born on the 10 Dec 1896 at Adelaide, Adelaide City, South Australia. He lived at his hometown with his parents Robert John Kennedy and Mother Ida Kennedy. They resided at 17 Grenfell Street, Kent Town, Norwood with his siblings Vylie and Raymond before the war Robert was an upholsterer.

He was below the average height, standing at 168cm tall while weighing 138lbs.

He enlisted on 23.12.15 to serve in WW1 as a private while serving the 11th Field Ambulance, it was made up of the 41st (Qld) 42nd (Qld) 43rd (SA) and 44th (WA) Battalions. Field Ambulances were however under command of the Division HQ rather than the supported Brigade. His unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A29 Suevic on 31 May 1916 when he was 19.

He was admitted to the 2/1st Southern General Hospital in Birmingham, England on 3/10/18, as he was suffering synovitis in his left knee.

He was laid to rest at the age of 79 in September 1976 in, Norwood his plot number is Section SE, Path 34. Site 843 and his Memorial ID was 249235714
