Private Gordon Matthew Molloy (Service No:QX46919) initially enlisted in the ACMF (Service No:Q108198) on 12 September 1941 and served with 113 Australian Training Coy and 105 RMT Coy before Discharging on 12 January 1943 to enlist with the AIF the next day. Private Molloy served with 148 General Transport Coy and was Discharged on 12 August 1946.
Born Matthew Gordon Molloy in 1920 in Ipswich QLD, Gordon was the third of four children of Matthew (Matt) Molloy (b 1889 in Newtown, Ipswich, QLD) and Ellen (Nellie) Jones (nee Phister; b1891 in Amberley, QLD). Matt (a Coal Miner) and Nellie married in 1920 in Ipswich where they settled and raised their family and Matt was a Miner.
Gordon was working as a in Ipswich, QLD when he enlisted in the Army. In 1948 he was a Labourer in Ipswich when he married Gloria Patricia Baker (b1924 in Brisbane, QLD). Gordon and Gloria settled in Brisbane, where Gordon worked as a Painter until retirement. Gordon died in 2004 and Gloria in 2022.
