Corporal Arthur James Nelson (Service No:Q89762) enlisted in the ACMF on 18 August 1941 and was attached to 111 General Transport Coy at Discharge on 24 September 1947.

Born in 1909 in Charleville QLD, Arthur was the fifth of six children of Christopher (Chris) Johann Colombus Nelson (b1877 at Baking Board near Chinchilla, QLD) and Minnie Sommerfiled (b1883 in Chinchilla, QLD). Chris (a Labourer) and Minnie married in 1901 Charlevillw, QLD where Chris was a Council Worker/Labourer before moving to Brisbane in the early 1920s.

Arthur worked as a Labourer in Brisbane where, in 1933 he married Ida Josephine Dobson (b1911 in Brisbane, QLD). Arthur and Ida settled in Brisbane where Arthur was a Labourer and a Mechanic. Arthur died in 1979 and Ida in 1995.
