Died on this date - 9th January........Corporal Thomas Henry Jenkin was born at North Williamstown, Victoria in 1893. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) as a 22 year old Salesman from Williamstown, Victoria.
Private Jenkin joined 7th Battalion at Anzac on 7th December, 1915 & returned to Alexandria on 7th January, 1916 after the evacuation of the Troops at Gallipoli.
Private Jenkin was transferred to 59th Battalion on 24th February, 1916 then transferred to 58th Battalion on 15th March, 1916. He was promoted to Corporal on 11th May, 1916 & arrived in France on 23rd June, 1916.
Corporal Jenkin was wounded in action in France on 19th July, 1916 with shrapnel wounds to chest. He was invalided to England & admitted to Great Northern General Hospital, Holloway Road, London, England on 28th July, 1916.
Corporal Thomas Henry Jenkin died at 8.20 pm on 9th January, 1917 at the Great Northern General Hospital, Holloway Road, London, England from wounds received in action in France – gunshot wounds to chest. He was buried in All Souls Cemetery, Kensal Green, London, England where 19 other WW1 Australians are buried.
