Worked at Burnside growing up then selected an extra area of land now known as Avoca
May 1944 - Sold Avoca and moved to Collie Blue, an old established property, intending to move to the Coast. Stopped at Clermont to visit Hector and Gwen and found the Paramount Picture Theatre for sale.
July 1944 - Bought a share of the Paramount Picture Theatre in Clermont with brother Hector and Tess Tindale. Tess was operator initially until John and Hector bought him out. John remained part owner and manager until his death in 1962
