Corporal Henry Sadler, who was wounded on the 28 April 1915 and died of wounds on the 1 May 1915, was a native of Geelong. He may have died aboard a hospital ship as he has no known grave. Prior to the outbreak of the war, he worked with his father as a plasterer and bricklayers' contractor. He was educated at, the Swanston Street School, Geelong, and the Gordon Technical College. According to local papers he was a prominent member of several athletic clubs, including the Geelong Rowing Club and the Geelong Football Club. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Guild. He was one of the first to enlist from Geelong. He was single and 26 year of age. His parents lived in Fitzroy Street, Geelong.

His younger brother 9065 Driver Hector Alfred Sadler 106th Howitzer Battery, 6th Field Artillery Brigade was killed in action 30 July, 1916. Age 24.
