Son of John Hogg and Gertrude Hogg of Marulan, NSW. Brother of Austin Hogg who returned to Australia on 27 January 1919 having served with the 2nd Australian General Hospital and 14th Field Artillery Brigade

On 6 April 1914 he had enlisted as Lancelot Austin Hogg but was never issued with a service number and application did not progress

Commenced return to Australia on 25 March 1919 aboard HT Port Denison disembarking on 10 May 1919

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

During 1926c Lance married Catherine M. Cooney in Yass, NSW
