Son of Congdon Fox Veale and Mary Ann Veale nee Woolcock of Union Street, Gawler, SA
Commenced return to Australia on 19 February 1917 aboard HT Benalla disembarked at Fremantle but failed to re-embark. Embarked HT Ulysses on 12 April 1917 for onward travel to Sydney.
