Sydney was the son of Ernest George and Amanda Louise (GEUE) BAIN of Williamstown.
He had his parents permission to joing the AIF at 19 years of age.
He married Daisy Field, a machinist, aged 24 at the Parish Church of St Thomas, Camden Town, London on 19 July 1919.
He left England on the Benalla 8 October 1919 and disembarked in Adelaide 2 November 1919.
He died in hospital aged 40 and his residence was given as North Adelaide.
