Captain Cecil Talbot Woods (killed in action on August 2) was connected with the military forces of Victoria for some time as lieutenant. On enlisting he was attached to the 8th Light Horse Brigade and proceeded to Egypt with his regiment. While in Heliopolis he was promoted to his captaincy. Captain Woods was wounded at the Boer War, and was offered a commission in one of the English regiments, tho Worcesters, where he continued to serve until the cessation of hostilities in South Africa. He was one of eight sons, five of whom have enlisted. His oldest brother, Mr. W. H. Woods, was killed in action on May 21.
