6 July 1915 - enlisted at Melbourne with the 7th Battalion with the rank of Private

24 February 1916 - transferred to the 59th Battalion at Serapeum

10 August 1916 - promoted to Lance Corporal

1 October 1916 - promoted to Corporal

28 December 1916 - promoted to Sergeant

30 Novmeber 1917 - wounded in action. Wound to the right thigh
