Albert was living at Dolphin St, Coogee, NSW with wife Olga and daughter Dale in 1942 when he enlisted with the RAAF. He was a Machine Moluder with Metters Ltd, and had previously worked as a Clerk. 

In December 1938 Albert injured his left knee in a car accident, and on 19 January 1943 when he was a Leading Aircraftman with 6 Squadron at Milne Bay, New Guinea he injured this knee jumping into a trench. As a result of this injury, Albert was Discharhed on 30 Ausgust 1943 under AFR 115 (n) 'Medically unfit for further service'.

Following his Discharge, Albert returned to civilian employment as a Clerk in Petersham, NSW, until the 1970s when he moved to Hudson Park, NSW and worked as a Driver
