Private WILLIAM ALEXANDER MITCHELL, of the 43rd Battalion, who died of wounds in France on August 22, was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Mitchell, Mount Sly, Whyte-Yarcowie, where he was born, and lived there until his enlistment in February, 1917. He embarked for the front in June. He was wounded iu April, 1918, but had again returned to France. He was in his 23rd year. He was of a kind and genial disposition, and was held in high esteem by many friends. His younger and only brother is also on active service.
