Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Frank Cornick came out to Australia from England in about 1913. He was a ship’s steward, and had only just left the Royal Marine Light Infantry, after 12 years of service. He served in Boxer campaign, China on HMS Argonaut. He was severely wounded in the thigh and legs by shrapnel on 27 July 1916 at Pozieres and died two days later in a Field Ambulance. He had been living in Sydney NSW and left his will in favour of his mother, Mrs. Mary Cornick, of Hammersmith, England.
