'Private DOOHAN, with two wounded comrades, was discovered by a Canadian patrol in 'No Man's Land' between the south west corner of MOUQUET FARM and point 94 during the night of 12th/13th September, 1916. All three men had been out there since 3rd September, 1916, a period of 9 days. Private DOOHAN had looked after the two wounded men, and during the hours of darkness foraged bully beef etc. from dead bodies lying in shell holes in the vicinity. The care an attention given to the wounded men for this long period undoubtedly relieved their sufferings and preserved their lives.'
