Mr and Mrs J F JACOBS of 31 James St, Northcote have been officially informed their eldest son, Private Leslie J JACOBS, was killed in action on the 19th July, 1916 (previously reported missing). Private JACOBS was in the 59th Battalion. He enlsietd in May 1915, and sailed two months later on the "Demosthenes". He was in Egypt, then Gallipoli, and was one of the last to leave in the evacuation; saw servive in the desret and a few weeks in France.

Mr T JACOBS, Londrigan, is in receipt of official information that his nephew Pte Leslie J JACOBS of Northcote, who was reported missing in July 1916, was killed in action at that time.
