Henry George Aubertin was born on the 9th of December, 1875 in the county of Surrey, England. Aubertin migrated to Adelaide sometime between 1911 and 1916 and settled in Kilkenny with his wife, Annie Aubertin whom he married in 1898 in Berkshire, England. They later went on to have at least one son and three daughters together. Before enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force, Aubertin worked as a Saddler.
Aubertin enlisted on the 13th of March, 1916, joining the 11th Field Company Engineers of the 3rd Australian division. Aubertin departed from Adelaide on the 31st of May 1916 on the troopship HMAT Suevic.
On the 21st of July 1916, Aubertin arrived in Devonport, England. He trained in England before being deployed to the Western Front in France on the 24th of November, 1916. As part of the 11th Field Company Engineers as a Sapper, he would have been responsible engineering work such as maintaining trenches. His work as a Sapper supported many Australian soldiers during battles across the Western Front.
Following the end of the war, Aubertin returned to Adelaide disembarking 26th June 1919. He was dischareged 11th September 1919. Aubertin and resumed his civilian life with his family in Kilkenny. On August 17th 1948, Henry George Aubertin passed at a private hospital, in North Adelaide. He was 72 years old at the time of his death and was buried in North Road Cemetery, in Nailsworth, South Australia.
