Son of Henry Upsall and Susan Jane Hannah Upsall of Kendall, Camden Haven, NSW.
28 February 1916 - enlisted West Maitland, NSW, with the 15th Machine Gun Comapny with the rank of Private
5 February 1918 - transferred to the 13th Battalion at Codford, England
10 April 1918 - transferred to the 15th Machine Gun Company
2 August 1918 - transferred to the 5th Machine Gun Battalion
Commenced return to Australia on 24 July 1919 aboard HT Bakara. On 4 September 1919 he transhipped to HT Bahia Castillo for armed guard duties disembarking on 21 October 1919
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
13 December 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District
During 1919c Donald married Elsie Egan in Newtown, NSW.
