"...7734 Private Murdock Ross Murray, 9th Battalion. A carpenter from Stanton Hill (Townsville), Qld prior to enlistment, Pte Murray embarked with the 26th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Euripides on 31 October 1917. Later transferring to the 15th Battalion he was promoted to Lance Corporal and, on 18 September 1918, aged 23, he was killed in action in France. He was buried in the Jeancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France. His brother Second Lieutenant James Cassie Murray (/explore/people/119225), 7th Machine Gun Company was previously killed in action on 5 August 1918, also in France."SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
