Served a 5 year apprenticeship with G.J. Sweeney, Bendigo, Victoria

Also served in the cadets and Light Horse

Killed in action 28 April 1915 during the fighting at Pope's Hill. He had worked as a carpenter and joiner for GJ Sweeney of Bendigo for five years.
