Carl (Charles) Thorvald Severin OLSEN was born on 4th February, 1876 in Kakkedol, Denmark
His parents were Edward OLSEN and Olivia Petrea ELVINS who arrived in Brisbane from Denmark in November, 1879
He had previously served with the QMI for 2 years & 6 months and with the 5th Infantry Battalion in the Boer War 1901 -1902 before enlisting for WW1
Charles married Lizzie ROWLAND on 18th July, 1905 in Queensland - 3 known children
He died on 6th August, 1915 from shell wounds to his back on board the HS Gloucester Castle -he was buried at sea.
