Hurtle Charles PRETTEJOHN service No: 3584A was born 25 September 1894 at Lockleys South Australia. Son of William Charles & Bertha Adelaide PRETTEJOHN nee SCOWN of Henley Beach Rd, Lockleys. Was a bricklayer prior to enlisting on 19 August 1915. Was a private in 27th Battalion & 10th Battalion.
He served in Egypt, France & Belgium & was Killed in Action in Belgium on 6 January 1918 & is Buried Ration Farm Cemetery. Belgium

Mr.and Mrs. W.C.Prettejohn,of Lockleys,
Have been notified that their second son.Hurtle
Charles(Fairy) has been killed in action in
France. Pte. Prettejohn left South Australia in
January,1915, and joined the 10th Battalion In-
fantry in Egypt. While camped there he met his
brother,Gillard,who had just returned from
Gallipoli and is now in Palestine. After several
months in France be was wounded badly by
shrapnel, invalided to England, and went back to
France last September.

Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Prettejohn, of Lockleys, have been notified that their second son, HURTLE, CHARLES (FAIRY) PRETTEJOHN, has been killed in action in France. Private Prettejohn left South Australia in January, 1916, and joined the 10th Battalion Infantry in Egypt. Whilst camped in Egypt he met his brother, Gillard, who had Just returned from Gallipoli, and who is now in Palestine. After several months in France Private Hurtle Prettejohn was wounded badly with shrapnel, and invalided to England, eventually going back to France last September.
He was a loving, dutiful son, and will be missed by his family and friends.
