100 years ago today, on the 8th October 1918, Lieutenant George Leslie Scott, 18th Battalion, professional soldier from "Toxana", Windsor Street, Richmond, New South Wales, died of wounds, age 32.

Born at Scone, New South Wales on the 5th January 1886 to William Henry (died 1921) and Mary (died 1912) Scott nee Maxwell; husband of Rachel Florence Maud Scott nee Blue (married 1908, died 1947, Marrickville, N.S.W.), George enlisted November 1917 with the 13th Battalion at Sydney, N.S.W.

Wounded in action on the 3rd October 1918 during an attack at Tincourt, France (G.S.W. abdomen, mustard gas), George succumbed to his wounds 5 days later.

Mr Scott, father of 4, is resting at Tincourt New British Cemetery, France. Plot VII Row F Grave 21.

George’s name has been inscribed on the Lithgow's Fallen Heroes Memorial.

Older brother Stephen Sarsfield (Reg No-1235) also fell during the war, memorialised same location.
Younger brother Charles Cecil (Reg No-977, born 30.12.1887, died 1957, Lithgow, N.S.W.) also served 1st A.I.F.

A memorial cross was placed at his parent’s unmarked grave with Scott descendants and friends on the 7th October 2018 to remember George’s service and supreme sacrifice during The Great War 100 years ago. CATHOLIC 1-11. 86.
