In 1967 Maurice's wife, Elizabeth, wrote to Central Army Records Office seeking award of ANZAC Army Badge on behalf of her late husband who she informed had passed away on 18 February 1960. She indicated that Maurice was the 1st volunteer from the Ravenshoe and Evelyn district in north Qld when he enlisted in 1914.
