Son of Henry Charles House and Elizabeth House nee Kinchinton of Johnson Street, Fitzroy, Victoria.
Brother of Leslie Charles House who was killed in action on 25 October 1917 while serving with the 5th Field Artillery Brigade and was buried in the Belgian Battery Corner Cemetery, Plot II, Row E, Grave No. 6.
