Extract from the Red Cross Record
Evans was a cousin of mine and on 11th April he went over with his Battalion for the attack on the German second line of trenches. Just as he got over he was hit in the stomach in three places. Private Arthur Sadlier later stated that he saw him in a shell hole close to the point of death but he could not stop as the advance was continuing. No one was aware of any burial arrangments / reports.
