453 Corporal (Cpl) Thomas Frank Hope, 14th Battalion was a 32 year old seaman with previous service as a First Class Gunner in the Royal Marines and in the Boer War with Kitchener’s Fighting Scouts prior to enlisting in the AIF on 16 September 1914.

He embarked for overseas service as a Corporal with D Company from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses (A38) on 22 December 1914.

Cpl Hope was killed in action at Gallipoli on 8 August 1915 during the attack on Hill 971 and is commemorated on the Line Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey with others who have no known grave.
