Born in 1919 in Narrogin WA, Lloyd was the fifth of ten children of Charles John Brinkworth (b1881 in Clare, South Australia) and Mary Ann Cecilia Turnbull (b1889 in Wyndham, New Zealand). Charles (a Farmer) and Mary married in 1909 in Katanning WA. By 1917 Charles was working for WAGR, and he and Mary moved with their family as Charles was an Assistant Station Manager and Station Manager in Katanning, Coolgardie, Cuballing, Narrogin, Northam, Albany, Clackline and Perth WA.

In December 1938 Lloyd was a Poultry Farmer when he enlisted in the Militia (Trooper/Corporal; Service No:W373) attached to 10th Light Horse Regiment. In 1941 Lloyd married Dorothy Jane Mitten (b1921 in Perth WA) and the couple were living in Sawyer's Valley in October 1942 when Lloyd enlisted in the AIF, giving his occupation as Butcher. Lloyd served in Borneo (27 May 1945 - 3 January 1946) and was attached to 2/5 Australian Supply Depot Platoon when he Discharged in January 1946.

Lloyd and Dorothy lived in Greenbushes nr Balingup WA where Lloyd was a Labourer before enlisting in the RAAF (Service No:A5763). By 1954 Lloyd was back in Greenbushes WA working as a Truck Driver before he and Dorothy settled in Perth WA. Lloyd worked in Perth and West Swan WA as a Truck Driver, Salesman, Storeman and Paymaster. He died in 1985 and Dorothy in 2010.
