Biography

"THE LATE PRIVATE A. J. HOPKINS.

Private A. J. Hopkins, who was killed in France on November 2, was the only son of Mr. A. S. Hopkins, late of Wayville now of Mildara. Private Hopkins was 21 years of age on February 21. He was educated first at Sturt street Public School then at the Adelaide High School, and completed a successful career at the Adelaide School of Mines and Industries in mechanical and electrical engineering. Prior to enlisting in June, 1915, he was employed by Messrs. Bagshaw & Sons, of Mile-End, as junior draftsman. He was a member of the Unley Methodist Church and Young Men's Class. He was of a genial disposition, and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. Much sympathy is felt for his bereaved parents." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 25 Nov 1916 (nla.gov.au)
