105 years ago today, at 8.30 A.M. on the 24th May 1918, Private John Beeston Donald, referred to as Jack, 17th Battalion (Reg No-7037), pharmacy student (clerk), from "Dumferline", Tudor Street, Hamilton, New South Wales, Died of Wounds at the 47th Casualty Clearing Station (machine gun bullet through the neck), at Morlancourt, France, age 18 years 7 months.
Born at Hamilton, New South Wales on the 4th October 1899 to Robert Campbell (died 30.6.1932, age 65) and Elizabeth Janet Donald nee Coutts (died 4.9.1940, age 74) corner of Park and Lawson Streets, Hamilton South, N.S.W. and Blackall Street, Hamilton, N.S.W., Jack enlisted on the 25th July 1917 at Newcastle, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A14 Euripides on the 31st October 1917.
Wounded in action - 24.5.1918 (bullet to neck).

Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall.
