    4 Dec 1915: Involvement AIF WW1, Private, 4259, joined the 1st Australian Light Horse Field Ambulance at Gallipoli.
    9 May 1916: Transferred AIF WW1, Private, 1st Infantry Training Battalion, in Egypt.
    25 May 1916: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 4259, as a stowaway with reinforcements for the 20th Battalion.
    5 Jun 1916: Transferred Private, 20th Infantry Battalion, and taken on battalion's reinforcement strength at the 2nd Australian Divisional Base Depot at Étaples, Pas-de-Calais.

    10 Jan 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Sapper, 4259, wounded (abdomen, left leg, hand) in action near Flers, Somme. His brother, Francis Michael Goodwin, was with him at the time. He was evacuated to the 1st Anzac Main Dressing Station at Bécordel-Bécourt, Somme.
    11 Jan 1917: Involvement AIF WW1, Sapper, 4259, died of wounds at the 1st Anzac Main Dressing Station at Bécordel-Bécourt, Somme.
