At the time of enlistment he was employed by the Water & Sewerage Board

He was a memer of the Reserve Rifle Club

Samuel was a member of the Reserve Rifle Club and came 2nd in the State for his skill in musketry.

 

Son of John Bycroft and Mary Elizabeth (nee Starr) of Bathurst, NSW. Brother of Ellen Cubis (Nee Bycroft); John Joseph Thomas Bycroft of Taree, NSW; William Albert Bycroft of Belmore Sydney; George Russell Bycroft; George Percy Bycroft; Charles Edward Bycroft of Fairfield, Sydney; Walter Bycroft of Bathurst; Walkden Brown Bycroft; Mildred Johnstone (Nee Bycroft); Charlotte Bycroft; Arthur Bycroft of Bathurst; Florence Knaggs (Nee Bycroft); and Margaret Faith Plenderleith (nee Bycroft) of Bathurst.

He had served both in Egypt and Gallipoli  

Samuels medals include the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
